Colour blocking is a design trend that purposefully mixes bold, solid colour blocks to create an exciting, energetic space.

Here, our living space was designed by artfully colour blocking fresh tones from the youthful Creative Expression palette by Dulux Ambiance.

Our main feature wall is divided into four colours: the special effect paint Metallic Silver Stellar, plus cool Minty alongside the strong Strawberry Crush; set against a Sundrenched skirting board.

The tones all work well together to ensure that your attention is not diverted more by one than the other.

To increase the vibrancy even further, consider clashing this look with furnishings in strong primary colours and graphic prints.

A sofa in a bold colour—here we’ve chosen red—is a real design statement that you could complement with a different colour footstool and mismatched bright ornaments.

Add in some eye-catching black-and-white graphics in the form of a large rug and matching scatter cushions.

Don’t worry if you feel there’s too much going on. Simply make sure you have some blonde oak flooring and natural wood accessories to give the room an air of measured calm as well.

The result is a revitalising burst of energy that’s a great expression of your personality!

Personalise your walls with the Dulux Ambiance range of special effects paints, where you’ll find Linen, Marble, Metallic, Velvet and ColourMotion finishes.
