How to Recreate the Vintage Look

Design a classic yet contemporary space that’s just perfect for hosting elegant dinner parties.

Designing a vintage-inspired room is a balancing act—ensuring you get the right blend of colours and styles to achieve the look.

Take some inspiration from A Vintage Vibe by Dulux Ambiance, a short video where we unveil a sophisticated dining room that uses bright oranges and glimmering coppers with moody blacks and brilliant teals.

Now Get the Look:

Introduce the vintage element to your walls first, with a shade from the Dulux Ambiance ColourMotion range.

Here we chose Orange Copper for that really retro look. The paint has a special dual colour effect—when viewed from different angles, it reveals subtle shades that change with the light. This striking shade is ideal for a feature wall, which you can then balance with a cool, contemporary shade for the rest of the room.

So next we worked with Marble Pebble: taken from the Dulux Ambiance by Nadya Hutagalung collection , this special effect paint adds a luxurious marble finish to your walls. Read more about how to add marble to your home here.

Add in an extra vintage element with some touches of teal—in the place settings, glassware or scatter cushions.

Add some contrast into your vintage-themed room with the introduction of matte black in metal side tables, or with accessories such as black-and-copper vases or black-and-copper candlesticks.

The combination of marble paint and eclectic stonewares with the shimmering orange and dramatic teal will give your vintage dining room a bit more of a contemporary feel.

The result will be an intense palette that brings warmth and personality to your home.

Personalise your walls with the Dulux Ambiance range of special effects paints, where you’ll find Linen, Marble, Metallic, Velvet and ColourMotion finishes.
